US prosecutors accuse Huawei of ‘far-reaching criminal scheme’ spanning decades

The U.S. government has long warned, in sweeping terms, that the Chinese tech giant Huawei is effectively an arm of the Chinese state that acts with impunity on the global stage, including allegedly violating U.S. sanctions.

Over the last two weeks, U.S. prosecutors have begun to make that case, labeling Huawei a “criminal enterprise,” in what could be a lengthy trial in a New York federal court.

Huawei enacted “a far-reaching criminal scheme extending over twenty years,” according to Department of Justice prosecutor Taylor Stout.

A coalition of conservation organisations have urged Vantara to make its temporary moratorium on wild animal imports permanent, warning that a time-limited pause could actually spur stockpiling by traffickers.

Vantara, meanwhile, has said that future imports will require animals to come from registered or CITES-accredited facilities, and will comply with a government Standard Operating Procedure still awaited from a Supreme Court-mandated process.

MMEJ repair of breaks at TA repeats maintains ecDNA and cancer fitness

Because ecDNA segregates randomly during cell division, it drives substantial intratumoural heterogeneity2,3.

Polθ inhibitors were applied only after Cre-mediated recombination was complete, ensuring that all ecDNA present was pre-existing and no new copies could arise.

Labelling was confirmed by live-cell microscopy in 35 mm no.

NASA Discovery Reveals Complex Water Systems on Early Mars

When NASA’s Perseverance rover reached the inner edge of Mars’ Jezero Crater in September 2023, mission scientists were surprised by what they found.

Called the “Margin Unit,” the geologic area stretches along the shoreline of an ancient Martian lake, so they expected sedimentary rocks, which would have formed as layers of sand piled on top of each other over millennia.

Igneous rocks are excellent record-keepers, particularly because mineral crystals within them preserve details about the precise moment they formed.

California’s “Addictive Feeds” Law Violates Teens’ First Amendment Rights

A California law that prohibits teens from receiving recommended social media content from other social media users violates their First Amendment rights, EFF argued this week.

Bonta, challenges SB 976, which requires that teen social media users get their parents’ permission before seeing other users’ recommended speech on their social media feeds.

Recommendation systems have a dual purpose on social media: they help all users discover speech and content by other users, and to get their own speech in front of a wider audience.

UAE Property: ‘Are you paying too much in service charges for your apartment?’

In reality, service charges should always form part of the investment calculation because they will affect both your annual expenditure and, in some cases, how attractive the property is to future buyers.

If the developer confirmed that the account currently receiving payments is not yet the approved regulatory account, it is understandable that owners would seek reassurance regarding how those funds are being safeguarded and whether they will ultimately be transferred into the prescribed account once registration is complete.

‘Mother of Hubble’: how Nancy Grace Roman ushered in a new era of astronomy

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, launched on 30 August, is the first space telescope to be named after a woman.

Space astronomy was seen as a threat by some ground-based astronomers because they worried that it would drain money from their activities.

Roman explained that others were unhappy that NASA had, in their opinion, sold the Apollo Moon programme as a scientific mission, and “they felt that they’d been used, and they objected to that” because they reckoned that it had little to do with science.
