CISA added CVE-2026-46300, affecting Linux Kernel, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Linux Kernel contains a missing initialization of a variable vulnerability that could allow for unintended modification of page-cache-backed data via failure to preserve the shared-fragment marker during socket buffer coalescing, causing ESP input processing to decrypt shared fragments in place. This vulnerability can be chained with CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 to implant PHP webshells and run commands as root.

The catalog lists 2026-10-31 as the due date for the required action.

Light may influence morning basking behaviour in captive gharials

A study on captive gharials suggests light could be a stronger cue than temperature for morning basking movements, particularly among young gharials.

The study finds that if light is the more dominant cue for basking, this disruption could lead gharials to bask at the wrong time, when air temperatures are not warm enough, or choose suboptimal basking sites.

The latest study found no link between light or temperature and gharials’ evening basking movements.
